Mind Your gaps
Tools for the long approach

Many golfers struggle with the gap between their their #3-wood and #5-iron. This can make long approaches particularly difficult to deal with. What clubs do you play here? Two great options are the #5-wood and the 2-hybrid (18°). But how do you know which of these options suits you best?

The similar, or even identical, loft between #5-wood and 2-hybrid (18°) means the overall distance will also be similar, but the way that distance is covered is what differs between the two. For instance:

Woods tend to launch higher and have more carry. This could give you the landing angle you need to you hold the green.

The longer shaft on woods produce higher clubhead speed that often translates into higher spin rates.

Are you going for the green from 180-200 yards? Then you’ll want the club that gives you more carry and a steeper landing angle. Do you tend to generate more spin? Then you’ll want the club that helps reduce spin. The best way to know which one suits you is to come in for a swing assessment and fitting.
